With all the hoopla around the 100th Anniversary of Scouting, I often wondered what it’d be like to attend a National Jamboree. This wasn’t something I ever knew about as a kid, and the only exposure I’ve had since was from a neighbor boy who went in 2010. He had lots of great things to say about the experience – so much that I thought if the opportunity ever came up to go as an adult leader, I’d seriously consider doing it.
Well… an opportunity came up. And…yes, I seriously considered it. I sent in an application back in March, completed a lengthy interview in April and found out today, that I was selected to be a 3rd Assistant Scoutmaster for the 2013 Jamboree! Woo Hoo!! I’m not exactly sure what I’ve gotten myself in to, but it’s definitely exciting. I will be working with three other leaders who have done this 4 other times. Not to mention that I’ll get to go with my own two sons who will be 16 that summer…and… it’s at a brand new location that looks WAY awesome!! Check it out from this YouTube video:
