February 22nd marks the birthday of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the man responsible for the scout movement we are involved with today. In honor of scouting’s founding father, please take a minute to watch this message from Luc Panissod, the Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
With my recent focus on living the Scout Oath and Law and how it influences our lives, it only seems appropriate to think about that again this day. As Mr. Panissod explains, the goal in renewing our Scout Promise is to “strengthen our commitment and resolve to lead life the scout way based on our founding principle as conceived by Baden-Powell”. He continues, “The Scout Promise and Law not only guide us towards a better life, but also binds us together in kinship as one family no matter what country, faith or background we come from.”
How true that is. I’m so grateful to be a part of this inspired organization and most definitely proud to be a scout!
