While Scoutmasters will begin making reservations for Council-sponsored Scout Camp tomorrow, is it too early for a Varsity Scout Coach to book a reservation for next summer’s High Adventure?? We’re considering the Four-Day Scout Adventure offered by World Wide River Expeditions in Moab, Utah. This trip has an element of scouting built into it with the river guides being registered merit badge counselors. So depending on what you want for your Varsity Scout team, the boys could come home with any of the following merit badges:
- Camping (partial)
- Canoeing
- First Aid
- Rowing
- Whitewater
The Whitewater merit badge is especially appealing to us since that’s one not many have an opportunity to accomplish (we like these kind of badges). The combination of activities on this trip seems like a great way to support a Varsity Scout’s transition from the strong focus on merit badges to more high adventure experiences. Props to World Wide River Expeditions for organizing trips like this…maybe we’ll see you next summer!
